Where can you help:
It was a hard fight all the way. We scratched and clawed all season to try and improve and get wins along the way. Well, you did it men! Congrats on the 2017 District Championship! I wanted to say thank you to the team on getting me my 400th coaching win vs Klein Forest. Wow, what a game and wonderful team victory. Hats off to Tanner the "Condor" Horelica and the entire Bearkats squad for an amazing defensive effort. . It took every player that was suited out Friday night to get the victory vs Forest. We saw outstanding defensive play from Alex "Smash" Villarreal, Emanuel the "Bruise" Cruz, Declan the "Destroyer" Fleming, Bailey "Jet Fuel"Juarez, Hayden "Pain Train" Taylor, Carlos the "Nightmare" Nunez, Excellent midfield play from Eddie the "Monster" Molina, Adrian "magic man" Martinez, Bryce "Iceman" McAllister, Caid the "Spider" McNeill, and Jacob "The Jackal" Arguello just to name a few. Congrats to Bryce McAllister on the game winning goal and a cheeky little give and go with Melcis Diaz. Again, thanks to the team for making this a special night and giving me my #400 Win!
Next stop the district Championship! What a great way to finish off district with a big 3-0 win over Klein Collins. Again, we saw excellent team defense. Hard work and great passing in the midfield. And good pressure and work rates up front at forward.
Congrats on Eddie Molina for his 2 assists, RJ Olivas for the opening and game winning goal, to Javier Gonzalez for an amazing goal to end the 1st half scoring. In the second half Fletcher McNeill plays a beautiful cross in from the left side and finds Bryce McAllister who Connects with an excellent 1 touch volley to beat the Collins keeper.
Excellent play from, Conor Ocker, Jose Penagos, Rahul Godula, Kyle Colie, Bijan Hamrang, and the rest of the Bearkats squad.
The Bearkats will face Aldine Eisenhower in the Bi-district round of the playoffs next Thursday or Friday location and time TBA. We should know next Monday night.
Cingrats to both the JV 1 and JV 2 teams on finishing up district with victories over Collins. JV 2 won 4-0 and JV1 3-0. Congrats to Michael Guerro on the hat-trick!
Head Coach, John Lawhon
After a slow start in the preseason and several playoff caliber opponents under our belts, the Bearkats are finally getting the results we've been working so hard to achieve.
A quick recap to the early district games. We started off with a big win over a very strong Stratford team. The Bearkats were in high gear from the beginning. Jacob Arguello and Eddie Molena provided outstanding central midfield play, and Adrian Martinez and Bryce McAllister gave the Stratford players fits on the flanks. Melcis Diaz and Javier Gonzalez were relentless in their attack. Wave after wave of Bearkat attackes finally resulted in a free kick from about 25 yards out. Javier Gonzalez stepped up and took a Ronaldo like shot that found the right upper 90 of the goal. Tenacious team defense allowed the Bearkats a clean sheet through the 1st half. The second half continued the offensive barrage by Klein. Bailey Juarez made his mark on the stat sheet mid way through the second half when he split two defenders and turned on the jets and put a brilliantly placed ball passed the Stratford keeper. Klein then continues is defensive blockade with outstanding work by Bryce McAllister, Alex Villarreal, Justis Curry, Emanuel Cruz, Carlos Nunez. Klein takes a decisive 2-0 win to start off district in the win column.
Next the Bearkats face Spring Woods at their place.Klein got off to a quick start with an awesome finish by Melcis Diaz. The game was a high paced track meet from the beginning. Klein had several early shots that just missed finding the back of the net, and after 40 minutes of play the Bearkats go into the half with a 1-0 lead. Spring Woods quickly evens up the score with an early 2nd half goal. Klein takes the lead again when Fletcher McNeill heads in a long throw in from Alex Villarreal. The 2-1 Bearkat lead doesnt last long as Spring Woods fights back to even the score once more. With the Bearkat offense now on full attack chance after chance slipped just past the goal as the Kats finally ran out of time and have to settle for the 2-2 draw.
Next, the Kats journey to Memorial High. Well, it didnt take long to get on the score board in this match. just 21 seconds in and Javier Gonzalez finds the back of the net to beat the Memorial keepr and give Klein the 1-0 lead. Klein gets outstanding 1st half midfield play from Jacob Arguello, Eddie Molina, Adrian Martinez, Fletcher McNeill, Bijan Hamrang, Hayden Taylor and Declan Fleming. Next goal comes as Melcis Diaz beats a memorial defender to make it 2-0. Then Jacob Arguello makes it 3-0 when he hits a banger that rips the upper right corner of the net. Fletcher mcNeill then beats the outside defender and makes an outstanding goal that is disallowed on an offside call. Klein heads to halftime with the 3-0 lead. Memorial does get some life in the second half making it 3-1, but its not near enough, and the Bearkats get another well deserved win.
Finally, we get a home game! And boy did the Bearkats give the fans their monies worth. Melcis Diaz starts off the scoring early, and the Kats never let up.Klein's next goal comes off of a corner kick by Javier Gonzalez that finds Eddie Molina on the far post for a well timed header to beat the frozen North Brook goalkeeper. Eddie Molina finds the goal again as does Javier Gonzalez to end the 1st half at 4-0. In the second half Jacob Arguello does his magic again with a brilliant goal loaded with finesse. Alex Villarreal and Justis Curry then move to forward. Well, just seconds after the move Justis turns on the afterburners to beat several defenders then slots the ball to the far post to make it 6-0. The Kats saw excellent play from Hayden Taylor, Tanner Horelica, Oscar Chavarria, Orlando Velazquez, Nathan Zermano, Rahul Godula, Carlos Nunez, Ezquiel Garcia. Great job by the entire team for an awesome Bearkat victory.
Cross town rival Klein oak visits The Pit on Fri Feb 10th for what is always an exciting game. The Bearkats get on the score board first with a cross from Javier Gonzalez that finds Eddie Molina cutting to the far post. But Eddie runs out of angle and instinctively heads it back across the goal for a waiting Fletcher McNiell, who heads it in for the 1-0 lead. That lead would hold up to half with great goal keeping by Tanner Horelica, and stingy defensive play by Bryce McAllister, Alejandro Villarreal, Justis Curry, Declan Fleming and Emmanuel Cruz. The second half gets under way with strong physical play from both teams. Eddie Molina was having an amazing match in the midfield offensively and defensively. Justis Curry again made an impact when subbed in at forward. Justis out worked and out muscled several Oak players the scissor kicked a pass to Melcis Diaz that played a perfect pass to Eddie Molina. Eddie took one touch to quicly settle the ball then unleashes a violently paced ripper that found the narrow space in the back side of the goal to make it 2-0. Klein would go on to play the majority of their roster to hold on to the 2-0 win and a great shut out victory vs Klein Oak.
Next the Kats will venture to Klein Forest to face the Eagles. Currently both teams are 4-0-1 in district tied for 1st place.
Here are the current district standings.
Klein - 13pts (4 wins-0 loses-1 tie)
Forest 13pts (4-0-1)

Stratford 6pts (2-4-0)

Hello Bearkat family!
I just wanted to take a few minutes to tell you how excited I am about the 2017 soccer season. We have the potential to be one of the top teams in the state this year. I look forward to the exciting times we have in store as we fight to attain our goal of 2017 Class 6A State Champions. It will take many long hours of hard practice, overcoming setbacks, fighting hard with heart and determination to accomplish this goal. It will mean coming together as one unit, believing in each other and never giving up no matter what happens and how hard things become. I believe that we have the talent, I believe in our players, and I believe they will put maximum heart and effort to bringing back the State Championship to Klein High.
To do this it will take all three teams, parents and fans coming together toward this common cause. I believe great things are in store for all of our teams. So, everyone load up! Get on board! Because the train is about to leave the station!
"Together to a Championship!"
I will see all players on Dec 29th for practice and Scrimmages on Dec. 30th (JV 2 at 10am, JV1 at 11:30, Varsity at 1pm).
